Rainy Day Fun!
With all the rain we have been having, parents have to get creative to keep active kids occupied.
Traditional activities like baking cookies, blocks, coloring and finger painting, a favorite activity of kids is fishing!
Kids can help in the preparation of this game by cutting fish shapes out of cardboard or construction paper. After the fish have been cut out, write a different activity on each one, like: “Run in Place”, “Do Your Jumping Jacks”, “Touch Your Toes”, or “Do Five Situps”.
Attach paperclips to the end of the “fish”. The fish can then be put in a hat, big bowl, cardboard box… really anything that will serve as your “pond”.
Take a long stick, maybe a yardstick, and tie a string with a magnet attached to the end of the string. As your child fishes, she can complete the activity on each fish that she “catches”.
Another great activity is making a fort. Drape a blanket over a couple of chairs or the kitchen table, and voila, a fort is born!
Blowing up balloons and playing indoor volleyball or baseball is a lot of fun! Create “paddles” out of paper plates and kids can even play indoor table tennis.
Rainy days don’t HAVE to be boring!
